Naked and Skinned

Boxes and bows, laces and strings
all of them pulled away
revealing horrible things.

Pulsating puss and blood-ripened gore
all floating away
as i try to wrap them once more.

The papers and ribbons
dance away with the wind.
That was my innocence,
now naked and skinned.

Oh raves. This is just so horrible but true. You write about innocence being lost in such simple ways but so beautiful. And still it's just shere pain shining through the words. :(

spot on Bex, spot on, so true. The words were written in pain... as most of my better writings are :P

As most of ours are. These last two lines just rock. wow.

We really are so shaped by what happens to us that I'm sometimes just stunned by it. And imagine that the whole world is just filled with people with the same complex pattern of experiences and agony. Makes me overwhelmed every time, just the thought.
